Silestone Makes Debut on This Old House

TV Show (episodes 2524 and 2525), website and magazine

Cosentino and Counter Intelligence partnered in providing Silestone countertops in the This Old House renovation of a Washington DC’s home in the up-and-coming Shaw neighborhood with the help of Mi Casa—(a nonprofit organization that purchases, renovates, and sells city buildings at below-market rates to low-to-moderate-income families.)

The Emmy Award-winning series chronicles the rehabilitation of a circa 1879 Italianate brick rowhouse located just ten blocks from the White House.

Counter Intelligence got the call from corporate and hit the ground running to make this project happen.

The This Old House Washington, DC project premieres exclusively on PBS Thursday, February 9, 2006 in the first half of The This Old House Hour at 8pm ET (check local listings at www.thisoldhouse.com).

Eight new This Old House episodes will trace the derelict building from its boarded-up neglected state to a crisp three-bedroom, two-bath home ready for a new family and a new life.

This Old House magazine will feature the Washington, DC project beginning with the May 2006 issue (on sale May 1). In addition, www.thisoldhouse.com will highlight progress on the job site 24/7.

This Old House reaches 5 million PBS viewers each week. The shows, magazine, and website together reach 50 million adults per month.

  • Saturday, 3/18 & 3/25
  • WETA (the PBS station in DC) at 9am

STONE AGE
Polished "natural quartz" (aka engineered stone) is all the rage, with patterned that mimic granite and colors straight out of the crayon box. Now the material is showing its softer side, with satin finish "limestone" from Silestone. It still acts tough, though, resisting stains and scratches. From their River Series in six colors; $35 to $95 per square foot installed, depending on color, thickness, and edge profile; 800-291-1311; www.silestone.com.
